Elsa's story

Elsa Rizkiya Kencana graduated in Ocean Engineering at the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember in Indonesia before joining LJMU to study for a Masters in Marine and Offshore Engineering.

"I decided to undertake a postgraduate degree because I want to become a lecturer. I was attracted to LJMU by the course modules. It is rare to be able to study the energy aspect of my subject in my own country so I decided to come here and concentrate on the offshore and energy aspects of engineering.

LJMU is very strong in my subject and I have told all of my friends back in Indonesia about the University and the benefits of studying here. The academic support is great and I have been given lots of guidance on topics such as writing for academic purposes.

The city itself is a good place to live. LJMU is very close to the centre and that makes a real difference to your daily life. I love walking around the city centre and visiting the Albert Dock. Studying to be a Scouser is almost as enjoyable as my University work!"
